Brownie Points

My little Isaac just cracks me up. He reminds me of Bob Newhart, with his dry witt. Isaac can have you bent over in laughter with a completely straight look on his face.

In recent days, as dinner is cooking, he and Meredith like to set the table and do random chores. I'm not sure why, but who am I to question?

Anyway, Isaac has 'cleaned' the windows in the family room and dining room for several days in a row now. Same windows, no dirt, cleaning anyway. I told him that I really appreciated that he was taking initiatvie, but asked him why he was cleaning the windows everyday. With the straightest face he looked at me and said "Brownie points". I just lost it. I often use the reward of 'brownie points' with the older kids when 'just because' doesn't quite motivate them. He has picked it up from listening to us.

This morning, Isaac came up to me with a piece of paper with the number 44 written on it. He showed it to me and laid it down on the counter. "What's this, Isaac?" I asked. "The number of brownie points I have" he answered.

What a hoot!
